Studying a Masters of Epidemiology at university is the main way to become an epidemiologist and study disease and disease outbreaks in populations. Building on what you’ve already learnt in a Bachelor of Public Health, Health Sciences or Biostatistics, you’ll learn how to collect, analyse and visualise data to understand how different diseases occur and how to manage them at the population level.
Epidemiologists can undertake a range of different roles and focus on specific areas, like infectious diseases or in public health services and governments. In a Masters of Epidemiology, you’ll learn how to undertake research and work in a laboratory to study diseases and viruses, collect data through surveys and interviews, and present data and research to educate public health peers, the government and the public.
