Certificate IV in Population Health

During the Certificate IV in Population Health, you’ll develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to set up population health and health promotion projects and programs in a range of areas like mental health, oral health and environmental health.

You’ll work with diverse population groups and take a hands-on role coordinating public and population health programs and projects to promote health and prevent diseases. There are many electives to choose from that will allow you to focus on your areas of interest, like health policy development and quitting smoking. You can also learn how to plan and evaluate population health programs, including managing teams and budgets, and developing information for media campaigns.

Some organisations might offer you employment as public health program coordinator or project officer if you have completed a Certificate IV qualification, depending on your capability and the units you have completed. Talk to employers in your local area, like local councils, community and public health services, patient and health advocacy groups and local primary health networks (PHNs) to see what opportunities for training and employment might be offered.
