During the Certificate IV in Indigenous Environmental Health, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge to work with First Nations communities to find and fix environmental health issues, like water quality, land care and pest control.
You’ll take a hands-on role supporting First Nations communities to maintain healthy environments, prevent common diseases and promote health for the whole population. There are many electives to choose from to learn in your areas of interest, such as developing policies, screening and improving oral health, leading workplaces, and developing public relations and media campaigns.
Some organisations might offer you employment as a First Nations environmental health worker or team leader if you have completed a Certificate IV qualification, depending on your experience, capability and the units you have completed. Talk to employers in your local area, like local councils, community and public health services, and local primary health networks (PHNs) to see what opportunities for training and employment might be offered.
