Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement

The Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement will give you a taste of what it might be like to work in a scientific career collecting samples for testing in a range of situations.

You’ll learn about how to work safely in a laboratory and out in the field collecting, handling and transporting samples for testing, like water, food and mosquito samples. There are many electives related directly to environmental health and science, including assisting with field work and maintaining sampling and testing equipment.

Some organisations might offer you employment as an environmental health technician trainee or vector control officer if you have completed a Certificate II qualification, depending on your capability and the units you have completed. Talk to employers in your local area, like local councils and health services to see what opportunities for training and employment might be offered.

Visit www.skillsgateway.training.qld.gov.au and talk to your teachers, VET coordinator, guidance officer and career advisor for more information on what’s available at your school because you might be able to do this course during Year 10, 11 or 12.
