In the Certificate II in Indigenous Environmental Health, you’ll get to experience what it might be like to work in environmental health with First Nations communities.
You’ll learn about population health and how diseases can be prevented and how to work with Fist Nations communities to have healthy environments. There are many electives to choose from, including monitoring and maintaining water supply, pest control strategies and sharing health information for environmental health systems.
Some organisations might offer you employment as a First Nations environmental health worker trainee if you have completed a Certificate II qualification, but you’ll usually need to complete more training. Talk to employers in your local area, like local councils and health services to see what opportunities for training and employment might be offered.
Visit www.skillsgateway.training.qld.gov.au and talk to your teachers, VET coordinator, guidance officer and career advisor for more information on what’s available at your school because you might be able to do this course during Year 10, 11 or 12.
